Firewalk for Teenage Cancer Trust

Doing a firewalk has always been something I’ve been interested in doing. It’s one of those things that is a once in a life time opportunity and amazes people when you tell them you’ve done it. On the 6th of November, I got to walk across the burning hot coals in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.

Teenage Cancer Trust is a Charity dedicated to helping young people with cancer feel comfortable and receive the best care.

Teenage Cancer Trust knows how damaging it is to take a young person away from their normal life. They understand how vital it is for teenagers with cancer to be treated by teenage cancer experts, in an environment tailored to thier needs. Teenage Cancer Trust work hard every single day to make sure that this happens.

“If it wasn’t for Teenage Cancer Trust giving me some of the best moments of my life. I don’t think that I would have coped as well.” – Arnie, 15.

The walk itself was a great experience, the coals weren’t as hot as I was expecting, but that was probably because when you’re trying to imagine the hot coals, you think of the hottest feeling ever and exaggerate what will be the reality. The coals were about 600 degrees when I walked across them and the coals stretched about two and a half metres. Although it doesn’t sound long, if I had to walk any further, I fear my feet would have been covered in blisters. Overall it was rather fun, I walked across the coals twice!

Here are some photo’s from the event and I hope you enjoy looking through them.

Thanks to Carol Johnson, Caitlin Bell and David Richardson for the photographs.

And here are a couple of videos of me doing the firewalk too.

Thanks to Gordon Johnson for the videos.

Thanks to all of my sponsors, I managed to raise over £150!

Finally I would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who donated to me. I think a shout out to you all would be suitable, so here it is.
