Fishing Frenzy! 99 Fishing!

As you know, I’ve been working on 99 fishing in the background but about 6 months as it’s easy to AFK.

I’ve finally reached 99 today which I celebrated with my friend Bratty (Bratacus) (the one in the bunny ears).

No idea where the image for 96 is, may not have taken one.

Woah We’re Halfway There! 92 Fishing!

As you know I prefer to do skills which I can afk such as Woodcutting (my favourite skill), Cooking etc. As I’ve got 99 Woodcutting/Cooking I’ve had to do Fishing (which I used to hate!) so I can continue to watch Netflix or browse reddit etc.

So while I can’t pay as much attention to Runescape and do a skill like mining or agility (to contribute to my Road to Prif journey), I’ll fish.

Whilst 99 in any skill is obviously a goal, fishing was originally one of my long term goals as it wasn’t a skill I enjoyed and it seemed months if not years away from happening. As I write this post I’m now 92 fishing with only about 40k xp to hit 93. It now feels a lot closer and whilst I’m only over halfway to 99 xp wise, I feel I could be at 99 within the month.

So this new deep sea fishing platform is very nice, I’ve swapped out fishing guild for it. I’ve mainly been using the “Net Swarm” part of it where you randomly fish various high level fish such as Manta Rays, Sailfish, Blue Blubber Jellyfish etc.

Since it’s release, I’ve fished a little over 19 million GP!

I have just over 50 million GP worth of fish in my bank.

I’ve also had 2 treasure turtle loots worth about 860k.

Just need to decide when to sell it, do I sell it now or wait until say 2 weeks before the next Double XP weekend and sell it then when it will hopefully be worth even more and I’ll have even more to sell? I’m leaning towards waiting as I’ve got quite a bit of money at the moment anyway.

I’ve not put my Road to Prif on the backburner completely, I’ve been slowly training the skills when I can and I’m currently at the following levels:

71/75 Mining

57/75 Agility

51/75 Dungeoneering

So still a long way off but slowly getting there. I was hoping to do the afkable mining at Keldagrim when I hit level 68 mining but I don’t have the strength or the quest requirements for it and while it might be worth doing to get to 99 if I ever go for it, I don’t think it’s worth it just to get another 4 levels until I can enter Prif.

75 Treasure Hunter Keys

Today I purchased 75 Treasure Hunter Keys in Runescape, they cost £13.99 and I opened them straight away taking note of what I received to get a rough idea on what £13.99 gets you (mainly in xp).

Obviously this will differ completely on the account, for example before I started I used some hearts of ice to freeze all of my 99’s so I didn’t get any xp in those as I’m not interested in that. Also, it’s level dependent so the higher the level the more xp you get so yours may vary slightly.

I’ll start off with the items I got which aren’t worth any money or xp such as clothing.

Saphire Golem Torso, Diviners Footwear, Fletchers Legwear.

I also got 450 Vibrant energy which I find hard to work out the xp rate for, I think it’s worth just over 1k xp but it depends what you use it for. I’ll probably use it to put it towards creating a boon (costs 1000) which gives 10% bonus xp which is more useful.

The rest of the items either have an xp value, a gp value or both (such as mahogany logs are worth gp but you can use them on construction to give 140xp per plank.

The table below shows a full breakdown.

Mining has a significantly higher amount of XP as I used all of my global lamps/stars/chaos tombs on it as that is the skill I’m currently needing to level up to get into prif. I didn’t actually get any xp boosts for mining otherwise.

So the highlights of this are £13.99 got me:

402,217.5 XP and 170,549 GP (this assumes I use the items for xp rather than selling)

or

384,655 XP and 290,499 GP (this assumes I sell all items rather than use the applicable ones for XP gain)

The Road to Prif (25/02/2018)

Started off today with a spot of fishing, hit level 83 and moved back to constructing Mahogany Dining Room Tables. Only 800 planks to go to hit level 75! Spent so much money getting these last 10 levels, about 7mill I think.

After only about an hour, I hit 75!

Next I decided to go and train mining again, it’s my highest level of the 3 remaining skills and for me, it’s probably the least boring although I haven’t played enough dungeoneering to work out if I like it yet. Got to level 65 mining, mainly from iron ore in Falador mines but I also mined 3 coal divine rocks too which is where I actually hit the level.

On Friday when I played some dungeoneering with friends, the xp rate even on double xp weekend was poor and slow for me.

As I write this I’m waiting on my new wireless gaming headset arriving from Amazon. Years ago with Prime, Amazon used to use DPD for next day delivery and you’d get a text around 8am with a one hour timeslot from DPD, name of the driver, brilliant service. But for the last year or two they’ve been using Amazon Logistics which is still a good service but compared to their old method with DPD, it’s just not the same. There’s no tracking information whatsoever, no morning text and you have to wait in all day from 8am to 9pm.

Also, out of the last 5 deliveries I’ve had for next day prime, they’ve said next day at the point of order, they’ve even text me to say “your order has been dispatched and will be delivered tomorrow (DATE).” – brilliant! But then the next day it’s been getting postponed to the day after. I rang Amazon about it and at first they denied it but I forwarded them the emails I had and screenshots and texts and they eventually apologised about lying to me on the phone and said their was dispatch issues, but this happned 3 times in a row.

Hopefully Amazon can continue to improve their logistics side and offer detailed tracking on normal prime deliveries in the same way they do for prime now deliveries which even includes map of where the van is and which drop number you are.

Anyway, back to Runescape!

Another friend of mine has told me about Lava Flow Mines in Keldagrim which are a good method to afk mine, which is definitely my preferred method of training, it’s slower but I prefer to do a skill while I watch Netflix or do some web design or write these blog posts. I need 68 mining (another 3 levels) and 77 strength (another 3 levels) then I can start the quest required.

Got another fishing level today and did some divination with a friend (Bratty) who taught me about entering the rifts and creating divine locations and such which was cool. Got to level 61.

Done a small amount of Agility had barbarian outpost and got level 57 before moving back to fishing while I write quests for our upcoming MMORPG game World Factions.

The Road to Prif (24/02/2018) – Part 2

Following on from my last post, I’ve been skilling some more, I continued mining until I hit level 64 which is a pretty pathetic attempt I know but I just hate the skill so much, it gets boring very fast.

Went back to bank and realised I had more protean packs, opened them all and ended up with 750 protean planks so I went back to my POH and made a load of Mahogany dining tables.

Got a lot of levels and ended on about 67 I think, didn’t want to give up on getting to 75 otherwise it’s going to cost a lot more if I try after DXP weekend so I went and got some Mahogany planks made, bought some more from the GE and went back to grinding Mahogany dining tables before realising it was easier to AFK and less bank trips to do Mahogany armchairs, plus they conveniently make 26 armchairs from 2 trips so it’s nicer math.

Here’s another nice little gif I made.

While I was making armchairs, the Detroit Red Wings game started so I put that on while I skill.

Shortly after putting the game on I started losing my sanity a bit doing armchairs as they take a lot longer so I went back to Mahogany dining room tables, make your mind up Feinraf!

Conveniently while doing construction I also found a funny image on reddit r/runescape. I guess a lot of other people are doing construction too during DXP.

Took a quick break from Construction as I opened my treasure hunter chests and got more protean memory so I quickly opened those and got another 1 level in divination which took me to 59, close to 60.

I got 2 strange rocks today from Construction, and had 2 from hunter and 2 from runecrafting in my bank so I also placed them on the statue in varrok museum for around 5k experience per skill .

As I write this final paragraph, it’s 2am so I’m not going to complete my goal of 75 construction tonight but will be more than enough time to do it tomorrow. I’ll finish this post with an overview of my skills progress (won’t include quests this time as it hasn’t changed) and then a quick table of my gainz.

The Road to Prif (24/02/2018)

It’s DXP weekend again and again I haven’t prepared for it, even less than the last time! It’s Saturday evening so only got a day and a half left and to be honest I’ve had a pretty relaxed weekend where I’ve actually enjoyed the playing the game.

Started off by doing some fishing on Friday and got 1 level. Then a friend of mine started using their protein gear so I decided to use mine too. Alongside portables, I got several crafting levels which took me to my goal of 75 and I used the bars to get me to 74 smithing, got to 75 with some steel bars I had in my bank. Used some planks to get a couple of levels in construction and some energy to get me a couple of levels in divination.

I also did a dungeon for the first time in a long long time with Ross, Cassy and Draga which got me to 50 dungeoneering and today I did my first two sinkholes (I’d never actually heard of them) my friend Bratty told me how to complete them. I actually got a nice amount of dungeoneering experience form a large lamp which took me to level 51.

As it stands here are are the requirements, green = complete, orange = in progress, red = haven’t started. Simple.

I spent some time at Barbarian Outpost agility course with Bratty too before moving to Brimhaven and getting roughly 45 tickets and completing some sort of task, not sure what it was which required 30 tickets in a row.

Right now I’m mining iron and mithril in falador mines, going to keep going as high a level as I can but I really hate the skill so not sure I’ll stick it out to 75. One thing that’s made it easier is Bratty has shown me where a deposit box is! I’ve actually mined here loads and never realised it was there. (Mixing things up a bit and uploading a gif above! I’m still getting used to the software, not too sure why it made me drag twice so you can see a little box at the beginning).

At the end of my last blog post I was chopping Mahogany logs in Karamja with the aim of making planks to level up construction to 75. Once I finish mining I’m going to move back to the logs I got from Karamja, make them into planks and keep going with my goal of 75 construction.

The Road to Prif (18/01/2018)

Today marks the start of my journey to gaining access to Prifddinas in Runescape.

Although I already have some of the requirements ticked off, these were all prior to wanting access to prif.

As it stands here are are the requirements, green = complete, orange = in progress, red = haven’t started. Simple.

Runescape 3 Double XP Weekend Gains 18-02-2017

runescape double xp weekend day two blog feinraf

Hello again guys, what’s happening? Here’s day 2 of my Double XP Weekender.

Herblore

I decided to start my day going back to Herblore and aim for 75. I’d like to get all of my skills to at least level 70 and then try and get all of the Plagues End Skills to 75 so I can get to Prif as everyone on Gaming Heavens Discord never shuts up about it! Knowing my luck as soon as I actually get the levels there will be something new and exciting out which I can’t access. Here are my skills below vs what is needed for Plagues End.

Agility – 52 / 75
Construction – 51 / 75
Crafting – 68 / 75
Dungeoneering – 48 / 75
Herblore – 75 / 75
Mining – 62 / 75
Prayer – 64 / 75
Range – 54 / 75
Summoning – 51 / 75
Woodcutting – 99/75

So back to Herblore, I thought I may as well aim for 75 Herblore this weekend since it’s rather expensive to train. Also, when I first logged into the game this morning, I was greeted with a “You have finished buying 702 limpwurt roots”, when I was buying them yesterday I must have inputted the purchase twice and never realised (no idea how I managed this as I went to the GE multiple times throughout yesterday) so I had an extra 702 limpwurt roots.

I didn’t make the same mistake as yesterday and I put my Botanist mask and gloves on straight away before I made my way to the Portable Well. I got to 75 from 70.

Smithing

After Herblore, I started smithing by making Cannonballs. I initially thought this would be an excellent way of gaining XP but quickly realised that it would be the opposite. An inventory of Cannonballs takes just under 4 minutes to complete. Even on double xp I was only getting 1503xp per inventory. That said I continued making Cannonballs as I enjoy being able to AFK skill and it was coming up to 3pm when the football was about to start. I got from 55 to 58 Smithing.

feinraf gets 58 smithing on runescape 3

Runecrafting

I wanted to get to 60 Runecrafting this weekend. Not happening – after 30 trips to the fire altar I’m level 51 from 50, woo!

feinraf gets 51 runecrafting on runescape

Poutine

So today I had the “pleasure” of learning about Poutine (thanks Amber). Cheese Curds? Cheese and Gravy? That just sounds really horrid to me. I like gravy on chips, cheese and chips is for Mackems, but together – ew. But, as Amber says “Don’t knock it until you’ve been to Canada and tried it”.

Summoning

Decided to train summoning during this weekend to as it’s rather expensive and I don’t really care for it as a skill. I bought a ton of shards and gold rings and made some magpie pouches with green shards I discovered in my bank. I don’t do much combat and I used all of my gold ones last month. I’m saving my blue ones for higher levels as suggested by the guys in the Gaming Heavens discord. I got from level 51 to 57 summoning today.

feinraf gets 57 summoning on runescape 3

Back to Smithing

I went back to smithing canonballs at this point as I needed to do ironing, cook tea and clean up the flat. Got to level 62.

Whispur’s Computer Fund

A lot of you reading this will know Draga (Whispur) and know that she’s a very talented video maker, gamer and artist. She’s been gaming for years and a has made a lot of good friends through gaming. She’s one of those people which makes your Ventrilo server beat. Her computer has been on the blink for a while but a couple of days ago it died completely. A few friends have tried to patch it up with various hardware parts but it’s not working fully. Cassy has set up a GoFundMe page to try and raise some money to get Whispur a new computer. Please consider donating anything at all. Thanks!

Finishing up with Combat

Decided to end the night doing a small amount of Defence, got from 64 to 65. Hoping to get to 70 Defence tomorrow and then maybe train up strength as high as I can get it. I want to be level 100 combat so I can use the 3rd tier boat in Pest Control as I love playing the minigame but it’s rare to find anyone playing in the lower 2 tiers.

World Factions

A quick one before I leave, if you haven’t already please check out a game I’m working on with a couple of friends, it’s Called World Factions and it’s an upcoming MMORPG, the best way to follow us is on our facebook page.

Runescape 3 Double XP Weekend Gains 17-02-2017

runescape double xp weekend day one blog feinraf

Hey guys, just writing a quick post to show everyone what I’ve been up to today during the first day of the Double XP weekend on RS3.

I’ve been back to RS3 for just over a month, maybe 2 months after a 4 year break. A lots changed and it’s been a bit of a learning curve trying to work out what’s the best way to train skills now. “No rock crabs?”, “What in the world are Portables” and “How do I even combat?” have been just a few questions I’ve asked since returning.

feinraf closeup 14th jan 2017

Thanks to everyone over in the Gaming Heavens Discord for helping me out when I was too lazy to RS Wiki or couldn’t find the answer especially GC20 Amber, Cabbage God, XP Engineer, Banunu and Draga!

If you’d like to join our Discord, please use the invite link below. We’re a bunch of adult gamer’s who have been friends for close to 10 years across different websites, games and voice servers. Somehow we’re all still talking and now Discord is our humble home.

Prayer

Started the weekend off by buying and using 500 Airut bones which got me from 54 to 64 Prayer.

Herblore

I also got my Herblore up from 62 to 70 by cleaning all of the herbs I’d saved up and then making Super Strength Potions. In hindsight I should have pre-made all of the Kwuarm potions (unfinished) before DXP as I spent half of my Herblore time gaining 3XP per unfinished potion which is a complete waste of DXP but you learn from your mistakes! I also should have bought my Limpwurt Roots before today too as I ended up spending close to 8k per one! (Bad planning! Who’d have thought the Grand Exchange would have stopped selling them?)

Speaking of mistakes, it was at level 69 herblore I realised I’d forgotten to put my Botanist clothing items on while doing Herblore and I forgot to put my First Age Tiara on while doing Prayer so I’d wasted some XP there too. Doh!

Thieving

I absolutely hate thieving, I tried to level it last week a little by pickpocketing farmers in Draynor and stealing from Stalls in Ardougne as that’s how I remembered levelling years ago. After a bit of last minute Googling last night, I found out that there are some chests / gates in the Thieving basement in Lumbridge which give some pretty decent XP so I decided to give them a go today and I’ve levelled from 55 to 60 Thieving.

feinraf gets 60 thieving

Mining

Mining is a skill I’ve never really gotten into, for those of you who have known me a while will know I’m all about skills rather than combat but since I’ve came back, I’m starting to enjoy combat more than some skills. Mining is so slow and boring and the only way to truly train it fast is to drop all of your ore which I have always hated doing. I was hoping I’d come back and it would have changed but no, it hasn’t. I levelled from 61 to 62 doing Iron/Coal/Silver/Mithril. I had planned just sticking to iron and dropping but I got so bored so fast I had to keep moving to different parts of the cave just to keep sane. I ended on Mithril just so I could go back to the bank after gaining one level feeling like I’d at least came out with something more substantial than iron ore.

If anyone can suggest a new way of levelling mining I may not be aware of please do tell me! It’s a skill I really want to level up but I can’t stand.

Crafting

Crafting was another skill I’d planned on doing more of than I did today. I’d planned on spinning flax to bowstring on a Portable Crafter or cutting uncut emeralds on a portable crafter until I tried to spin flax and realised you can’t.. More bad planning! I then tried to find the gem interface and whenever I clicked on the portable crafter with uncut gems in my inventory, it said “You have nothing to craft” so I assumed yet again that you couldn’t craft them. It turns out you can cut gems with a portable crafter but to do so you need to right click the uncut gem, hit use and then click on the crafter to open the interface, which is completely different to every other portable so that frustrated me a little bit as I had already used several emeralds before I realised.

Similarly, I came across another annoyance when cleaning herbs using a portable crafter, normally when using a portable you can just click it and it opens on the correct screen automatically, not with cleaning herbs – it still opens on the potions screen and you need to manually click. Not too annoying but it’s a bit odd.

Both of these small issues should be fixed I think. Back to crafting, I got from level 64 to 68.

Fishing

I’ve been fishing pretty much solid for the last 2 weeks, I haven’t been on much so haven’t levelled very well but the way I play Runescape suits fishing as I like to AFK play, whether I’m browsing reddit/social media or watching Netflix, it’s an easy skill to train on my other monitor. It’s the same reason I used to love woodcutting/cooking/fletching – but they’re all at 99 now. I got from 76 to 77.

Combat

After I’d trained most of the skills I’d wanted to train somewhat today, I needed a break from skilling and thought I’d try and advance some of my combat levels. I’m not a huge fan of combat but as mentioned above I am starting to enjoy it more than I did several years back. I got from level 63 Constitution to 65, from level 67 Attack to 70 and from level 62 Defence to 64.

feinraf gets 65 constitution

Overall

So overall, I’ve gained a massive 36 levels today and 1.4 million XP. See the below image for a full list of gainz.

Thanks so much for reading, hopefully I’ll keep this blog updated a bit more regularly with gaming posts.
